Following their triumphant start to 2024 which has seen Scottish pop-fueled post-hardcore outfit newshapes open up for Atreyu, The Blackout and The Nightmares and release an emphatic single, ‘feel it’ featuring Scott Kennedy of Scottish compatriots Bleed From Within, they are now back with a melancholic summer rock hit titled, ‘heavensent’. The new single sees newshapes return to their alternative rock roots with this upbeat anthem, kitted out with massive synth hooks, reaching choruses and uplifting, ascensive guitarwork throughout.

With ‘heavensent’ newshapes vocalist Ian Mann tackles past relationships and experiences from a position of growth and hindsight to reflect on the lessons learned with the intention of representing them in real-time.

Speaking about ‘heavensent’ newshapes vocalist Ian Mann comments, “This song is my way of saying “be honest with yourself”. Allow yourself to feel the things that you are feeling and allow it to change you. You’re going to reminisce and want to miss it, but take off the rose coloured glasses and you’ll see just how far you’ve come.”

In newshapes’ first 2 years as a band, they have captivated the alternative music scene. Their debut EP ‘i hope this finds you’ (released in October 2023), led by enormous lead single ‘foreverend’; a track with a chorus that wouldn’t be misplaced if set amongst the anthems of 2010s emo and alternative royalty has steam rolled to over 600,000 + streams to-date, with the tracks collecting seven Spotify editorial placements (including All New Rock and All New Metal), and five plays on BBC Radio One’s Rock Show and Introducing Rock Show. The band’s early success led them to invigorating performances delivered on some of Glasgow’s biggest stages alongside the likes of Atreyu, The Blackout, The Nightmares and more.
